Today we’re in Dominica….another beautiful warm day! Yesterday in St. Barts we got off the ship and just walked around the small town (all of about 5 blocks or so). We went to Le Select for “Cheeseburgers in Paradiseâ€. Karen, it sure brought back fun memories of when we were there on DDD with you, Mark, Suzanne and Sheri (I don’t think the Kimmi’s were with us?) and the jug and mock funeral of Billy Bob (or whatever his name is?). Oh what a day that was!! DDD will forever remain one of the highlights in my life! Gil, as I see it the options in St. Barts are shopping in the upscale shops (no bargains here for sure!), eating lunch at one of the cute cafes, or going to the beach for sun and/or snorkeling.
Last night there was a pool deck bar-b-que that was fantastic in every way. We didn’t sail until 9pm so the conditions were perfect….just the right amount of breeze with no wind! The food was great with all the usual things like steak, pork, lamb, fish, crab legs etc. There was wonderful live music for a couple of hours (something we’ve greatly missed on the Mariner) and lots and lots of dancing. We had 2 tables of 10 each next to each other with lots of seat swapping between tables, mingling and laughing. After dinner our espressos and Sambucas arrived just as if we were in CR. At around 9:30 the music stopped so we headed for the casino for a few hours of Lady Luck. We opted out of the show (a classical pianist). I’m sure he was great but not our forte. We really do miss feeling like we have a place to hook up with friends after dinner or after the show. You would think by now we would have found such an area but we really haven’t. The layout of the Horizon Lounge is not conducive to talking & mingling around as you feel like it’s more of a “sit and watch†venue with all eyes on the stage and the singer/s. The meeting spot so far seems to be the casino. BUT do they ever have great laundry rooms on this ship!! They’re large with 3 washers and 3 dryers, chairs and love seats and a large flat screen TV! Yesterday I did a short load and about dropped dead when I walked in and saw Tom ironing a shirt! Maybe he’s trying to get into Tony’s league….now wouldn’t that be nice!
If memory serves me right, on DDD we did our river tubing here in Dominica. What a great day that was! We’ll be getting off the ship soon, nothing planned so we’ll likely just walk the town. Tonight we have an invite to Latitudes. I guess they don’t do the fun singing/dancing shows anymore there as they did on the WC. I haven’t even looked at the menu yet but I’m sure it’s some type of Asian cuisine. There is a karaoke thing going in STARS Lounge tonight….it will be interesting to see if STARS finally comes alive or not.
Marc, John and Lyndsey send their regards to you and Arlene!
Anyway, we’re having a great time, so much fun…..wish you were all here with us!!

Can't wait to see you Ngaire, Ken, Joanna and Tony! Karen, I forgot to tell you that Tom and a group play Texas Hold'em just about every afternoon in LaVeranda. Wish Mark were here to play with them too! It is becoming a ritual. I played with them one day but usually do arts and crafts across from where they're playing.

Thanks guys! Karen, King of the Iron will ALWAYS be Tony!
Bette K….keep forgetting to mention that we do know Terry (or is it Tere) and Ann Speed. We hooked up with them the night we stayed at the Hyatt in FLL before boarding. We both immediately recognized each other from the WC and reintroduced ourselves, The morning before we boarded we (including Paul…worldcruise2005) walked around looking at the huge yachts. The 1st night we boarded we were invited to Ann’s private birthday party in STARS lounge. They are a fun couple….we all danced together last night at the pool deck party. They are leaving the Mariner for a 12 day excursion to Antarctica and rejoining the ship in (I think) Buenos Aires.

Oh and one last thing to all coming to SA (Brazil)...right now before you forget, make sure you have your yellow fever vaccine card with your passports. I don't want anyone to go through what I did freaking out that they may have forgotten it. It MUST be originals too....no photo copies. Our friends had a photo copy, NO GOOD. Luckily, their Dr. is fed-exing an original to Barbados!

Love the Magtag Neptunes on the Mariner..... But never never do pre-wash, and extra rinse LOL that is around 80 Minutes of wash
And Bad Bill hates San Juan so did wash there, and got off the Mariner in Ft. Lauderdale with almost all clothes washed...
Could somebody tell me what is DDD that PL talks about :p

Luckily, their Dr. is fed-exing an original to Barbados! I just got Hep A and a couple other shots at the Virginia Public Health Clinic in Roanoke. I brought my Yellow card with my Yellow Fever shot I got last year. The nice puter nurse not the shot nurse, added my Yellow Fever information into my record and printed it out for me, which is offical. She also told me that if I lost my yellow card, just call and they would mail my shot history. This lady also had printed out all the information on the CDC site for the Caribbean. Sometimes you are just amazed for the good service from a place I would have not expected it.

Marcie; Am I understanding you correctly that there's not much dancing available? Miss Lynn and I will NOT be happy campers if that's the case. Are you saying that they've turned Horizon Lounge into a show lounge?

Marcie, So glad to hear that you are enjoying Tere and Ann. We found them to be delightful. They did tell us that they would be leaving the cruise to do Antarctica. Please say hello for us. Happy to hear you are having a good time, and I know it will only get better as more of your friends join you. Keep having fun, and please keep posting. Hi Marcie! So good to catch up with you. Sounds like a lot of fun and WISH WE WERE COMING ON BOARD, TOO! Unfortunately, it's just not possible for this year.
Please give our very best to Terry & Ann Speed. Gary missed playing ferocious paddle tennis with them on Voyager. He'd like them to know he was one of the co-winners of the round robbin tournament one of the last few days we were aboard. They introduced us on VJ7 to John & Lindsay.
Hope they get the party themes going in Latitudes again. Those are some of the most memorable dinners we've had on RSSC.
Cheers, Anne

Good Morning from Barbados! Last night's dinner at Latitudes was outstanding....so good! I have simple taste so I was afraid it would be too exotic but it was just perfect. Doug, there is dancing to be found so not to worry....it's just kind of spread out. You'll see what I mean when you and Lynn board. I met Circleboy (Steve and Linda) last night. He had asked Terry and Ann if they knew a blonde from California. He couldn't remember "Marcie" but he did remember "Petlover"....some how they put it all together and came up with me. Went to the karaoke last night at STARS. We recruited a singer from the casino and he had a nice voice for New York New York. My girlfriend Joan and I did back-up since I DO NOT SING. Everything was going perfect until the karaoke machine broke in the middle of our song. Things came to a halt at that point but we stayed on for some dancing and socializing. It was the first time I've seen anyone in STARS other than private gatherings.
Today there's a complimentary excursion this afternoon to a Barbados plantation. Not sure what it's all about but we're going.
I came in second in the daily Texas Hold'em game yesterday. With just 2 of us left, I went "all in" with a pair of Kings but the winner got a flush on the River card. Oh well....lots of fun!
More later........

We're still on the ship trying to decide if we're going to get off before our 2pm excursion. Others are saying that since it's Sunday everything is closed. For now I'm hungry so room service is sounding like a great option!
Bill, LOL at my new name! Did you sign up for MUSH with all the rest of us? You'd better come join the fun! Trust me, I'm a light weight compared to some of the LCTers I've cruised with! You need to come meet Suzette on MUSH (she only comes out at night). You'll adore her as we all do!
