All sorts of fun things going on here on the Voyager! Last night we had a really great private birthday party with a 1950/60’s theme for two special girl friends. It started with cocktails on the deck outside of Horizon Lounge. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect! Joan, the amazing party planner, organized it all and has been planning this since last October. She even got at least 6 baby to teen pictures of each birthday gal and had them all enlarged. They were displayed on big easel boards. After an hour of cocktails we all went to Latitudes for dinner. Rather than the Indian theme that has been ongoing (even have an Indian chef onboard….Madame Curry) it was Italian food (thank goodness!).They closed Latitudes for the night to all passengers so it was just our private party of 64 from the birthday party.
Just when I don’t think it can get any better….it does! The Italian food was amazing with everything imaginable to choose from. Friends Judy and Joan did all the planning and decorating and Regent complied to make this such a special night for all of us. The assistant F & B Mgr, Franck is such a super star when it comes to planning our parties. He is sooooooo helpful and the word “No†isn’t part of his vocabulary. Whatever we need done always gets done!
Capt. Dag, Jamie and Dana came to the party as well to make it even more special. After dinner the real fun began with lots of dancing and music of the 50’s and 60’s. We also played games. The first game was so funny. It involved 2 teams lined up, each with a toothpick in their mouth. The object was to start with the first person and pass a Lifesaver Mint from person to person down the line without using your hands. This was hilarious! The next game was just as crazy. I was one of the team captains and needed to chose a 10 people to make up my team. The first person I chose for my team was Capt. Dag! Each of the two teams lined up and we had to pass a large pepper (could have been an orange or apple etc.) under our chin from person to person without using our hands. What a hoot! I passed to Capt. Dag and it looked like there was major groping going on. He was such a good sport! I didn’t have my camera with me last night but many others did so I’ll share some pictures soon. I’m sure if you look at the pictures without knowing what the game was it could be taken completely wrong and construed as blackmail shots LOL
The fun continued on this morning as we’re in the Indian Ocean. We (Regent) sent a small boat out to do.fish bartering with local fishing boats here off the Sri Lanka coast. Our head chef, Tobias and 2 others including the ship’s photographer were in a small boat. This is always one of my favorite things to watch the transacting going on. The local fishermen get things like bottles of whiskey and cartons of cigarettes and we get big fish that’s cooked up for the pool side lunch. It doesn’t get any fresher than this. Sometimes they even throw in Regent T-shirts which is fun to see the local fishermen modeling. All of this was going on right off our starwood balcony and such fun! Also exciting...there were hundreds of dolphins on both sides of the ship early this morning. Just one more thing we enjoy so much in this part of the world.
Tomorrow morning we arrive in Cochin, India. We have a very full day planned!
In addition to all my regular "sea day" activities, I now go to some of the dancing classes. More fun than the gym! Tomorrow night I organized a SoCal dinner for 8 of us (new friends we've made on this cruise). The following night we're having a "going away" party for our friend Joan who will be leaving the ship to return to Hawaii to oversee the final touches of a new home they've built. :mecry: :mecry: She sure will be missed! Her husband Robert will stay onboard until the end...April 30th.
I took some pictures from our balcony. I’ll post some party pictures from last night when I get some.
