We didn't even get off the shuttle in Maputo, Mozambique. There didn't appear to be much to see nor did we feel too safe walking around but I did click a few photos to share. Many of the passengers went on an all day safari which may have been the main purpose of this port stop.

This man was just hanging out at the shuttle stop. Seconds after I took this picture he laid down exposing himself with nothing on under his tunic, just letting it all hang out! As Tom often reminds me "We're not in Kansas anymore." It's all part of seeing cultures around the world and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Marcie, we had been thinking about spending one day in Maputo as part of our ROAR II pre-safari. Maybe we should put off going to Mozambique to a future trip where we would visit the more scenic portions of the country.

Hope your cruise continues to be wonderful. Really looking forward to the report from Amboselli.

Marc --

You can see more pictures of Maputo in my journal...but they are mostly of buildings...because the streets weren't picturesque. From what I saw, I wouldn't bother spending a day there pre-Roar II.

On the other hand, Alexis, our French waiter on La Veranda's aft deck for breakfsast and lunch, had a great time. He and a few friends took a cab to a nice beach and had a good, cheap lobster lunch.

Still...I'd take a pass....

Marcie; Hope you're still having a great time. Our stay in Cape Town was fantastic!
