Captain Gilleau (I don't remember the correct spelling)has been retired. He went back to South Africa for vacation and then found out about his retirement and the staff didn't even get to give him a farewell party. I was told by Muriel that they are changing the registration of the ship and the new country rules require a captain to retire at age 62 (Jean Marie is about 72.) France didn't have an age limit - only a pass the medical exam requirement. Alfredo Romeo is coming on the Mariner from the Navigator when Phillipe goes on vacation. Phillipe will be back for South America. Jim

Capt. Guillou is retiring??? Wow, that's sudden and unexpected. We had a great time with him on MINT. Sorry to hear this - thanks for the update.

It is indeed a shame that Capt Guillou has been forced into retirement. For my money he was the best Captain that rssc had. Capt. Delavault is pretty old too, so maybe the age restriction will create an opening in the organization such that they can bring Capt. Broomhall back. Wouldn't that be great! Ah, speculation is a wonderful thing!

Capt. Delavault is pretty old too, Doug, any guess as to how old? I didn't think he was very old (just has grey hair). His children aren't very old.
