LOL! I'm sorry, I will be more diligent about posting more pictures. I'm running out of ideas for new pictures and they're beginning to repeat framings so I elected to slow down. But with public demand ... :)
Edited to say: new pictures are up!

Masaki....I know you decided on the Blog site so you could post photos from your phone during delivery....have you though about going to a ofoto or other photo site now that you can use your other cameras?
I know there are limits to the phone camera and I'm sure your photographic talents are cramped by those limits.

Thanks Priscilla! Margo - I've thought of that but I've given out the blog website to so many people that it'd be hard to let them know what website I'd move it too. Plus, I'd have to transfer all the old photos over. At some point, I need to put pictures up on our homepage as well. (sigh) So many things, so little time. :)

My best friend and I both had problems nursing. Not enough milk.
La Leche League told us it was impossible not to have enough. Nick would nurse 15-20 minutes on a side, then feed again 1.5 hours later, then 20 mins later would be howling with hunger.
Our pediatric nurse pratitioner said some women don't make enough milk. That's one reason they had wet nurses in the "olden days."
La Leche told us that all mammals make enough milk. One of my customers was a dog breeder, and one of his bitches never had enough, even with only two puppies!! They had to bottle feed the puppies.
Although it would have been preferable to me and to my friend to be able to nurse 100%, the boys are now 24, intelligent, and healthy.
By the way, I got the job I was after, and part of my territory will be Hawaii. I'm hoping for a business trip or two every year.
More on the job later.

Congratulations on the new job, Frances!
I am definitely one of those people who does not make enough milk. I can pump out 1 1/2 ounces but my little girl takes at least 4 ounces at a time. She'd be at the breast forever!

Trust me, Joanna. I've stopped stressing and figure some breast milk is better than none. I do guilt well and it took a while but the main thing is that Marika is happy and growing!

If Marika is robbing hubcabs in Honolulu at age 15 then I will blame you for low breast milk - we have to have some explanation for bad kids -

Amanda, I wish I were there with you to "try" to reassure you.
TRUST ME....we all worried about such things but in the big picture....Marika will thrive and do well. I worried when I was a young Mom too (guess we all did, right Moms??) but now I have 2 great, healthy daughters in their 20's and I wonder...WHY did I stress ?? They turned out just fine and all I did was "wing it" for the most part. In our days we didn't have consultants, only Mothers and Mother-in-Laws whos advice was sometimes wanted, sometimes not.
I know Marika is thriving! How could she not with 2 such wonderful parents!! Someday, you'll look back on all this and laugh...might take awhile though!

Not to worry, Amanda. Our children have all grown up and thrived, despite some hiccups along the way. Marika is doing great! You and Masaki are wonderful parents giving her the best of yourselves each and every day!
Congratulations, Frances! Please post on another thread about your fantastic new job.

Amanda - my oldest daughter had the same problem with her first one, and after a couple of weeks, when Kate wasn't getting enough, she gave up and started bottle feeding - Kate is now a healty, active amazing, delightful 3 year old. Juli was able to breastfeed her 2nd Matthew for a month or so, but finally started bottle feeding him because the Pediatrician felt something in her breastmilk was aggravating his Acid reflux. Now that he's 5 months old and starting on baby food, things have gotten much better - so hang in there, things all work out in the end. I agree with Joanna, you new Mom's are made to feel that you've failed if it doesn't work - just do what feels right to you, thats my best advice. (not that you actually asked for it, haha) :D

Amanda and Masaki, I know you wait on pins and needles for my sage advice. I have the answer for you. Give my niece Milk Duds. There must be milk in them, as the name suggests and she will get the bonus of chocolatety goodness at the same time! Just curious, why haven't you called me to babysit yet?

You guys are great! It is true that we probably beat ourselves up over everything, but the main thing is that the babies all end up fine in the end.
Karen you crack me up! If Marika follows in my footsteps, she will LOVE chocolate. Wanna fly to HI to babysit?

Breast milk is great, but even better is a relaxed, calm mommy. Do what you need to do to have a happy family.
Marika certainly is growing fast! Thanks for the pictures, what fun it is to see the latest.

Thank you Pam. :) I was going to update the blog this weekend - 2nd month birthday party (do these Chinese people find a birthday that they don't party?) is coming up tomorrow with Amanda's side of the family and so should be some fun. Hopefully, some shots of her looking cute in one of her outfits. I'm really trying to minimize sleeping pics.
In general, as an update, things are settling down. She is becoming more responsive to us in that she seems more aware of us as beings that exist separate from her as opposed to mysterious things that change her when she's wet and feed her when she's hungry. She tries to communicate with us by making various high and low pitched grunting sounds and seems satisfied when we grunt back at her. We had a minor miracle occur the other night when she actually slept the entire night through. Hasn't repeated itself again yet but now that she's shown that she's capable of it ... :)

The Koreans only do a 100 day party, and the fancy one year party. The Chinese obviously like to celebrate.
Sounds good to me . . . why don't we all go on a cruise to celebrate the celebration!

Yes, come and visit us in HI everyone! And thanks for the compliments on our little fish.
Margo, we're biased but I think she's a pretty good baby. :) Can't wait to see you in Novemeber and everyone else on MUSH in August!
Marika's smiling a lot now..if only we had a camera available during those times. She loves to coo back at us as well. I can't believe I have to go back to work in 2 weeks!
