Maybe I dreamed this but wasn't there talk about making the entire Voyager (or maybe other ships as well) entirely WI-FI in the near future?

Problem we had on the Mariner bringing our lap top down to the atrium WI-FI area is that there was only ONE plug so everyone else had to depend on their batteries and they were dying sometimes right in the middle of something important. It was so nice having internet access in our cabin on WC...no dead battery!

I thought Ngaire said Voyager is already wi-fi.

I'd swear someone said the entire fleet was going wi-fi throughout.

Who knows, M, maybe you and I were having the same dream.

The Voyager is supposed to be WIFI in all cabins now. When we were on last we were right at the back and it was not too dependable. The location of the cabin and where the ship is located makes a difference on the strenght of the signal.

The plan is to have all the ships WIFI in the cabins but it is a huge undertaking and not sure how long it will take for them all to be done.

On the Mariner we had WiFi in many areas on deck 5. My SE went into Stars, the Library or the Promanade area. Starbucks area also had great WiFi.

Marcie, I found the wi-fi to be "spotty" in our rooms on Mariner and Voyager. Maybe they've improved it. I always take my cable so that I can plug the computer to electricity (and also to re-charge battery) when I'm in the cabin. Then, it's ready to go when I want to use my laptop in the "hotspots" on the ships.

The ultimate plan of having each cabin on the Voyager WI-FI is great news. IMO, this will be the single biggest improvement RSSC can make.

The Mariner is supposed to get full ship wi-fi when it goes into drydock after the South America cruise.

I think everybody basically covered this, but I am currently on the Navigator, and they say the forward cabins are all wired, but I cannot get reception because I am too far forward and there is a fire door the signal cannot penetrate. I am currently across from the computer center and I frequently loose the signal after i have written something, and try to post it (naturally)

Yes ships move - and the signal strength comes and goes.

I have taken to doing all emails in word and saving constantly so it is not as often that have that "frustrating" experience of doing all that work and then losing the signal. That drives us all bonkers.

The Voyager was built with Cat5 cabling in place so is easier for upgrading to WI-Fi, which has been carried out and the suites are near enough all WI-FI.

The Mariner was not so lucky and as the process of wiring the ship for "Wireless" is quite disruptive (Bulkheads and ceilings have to be dismantled, etc.) it is highly unlikely the Mariner will ever gor all Wireless.

However, I have heard there are plans to increase the number of WI-FI hotspots around the ship (Pool Deck, Horizon Lounge, etc.) and the top 4 suites will also be connected.
