I read about this game in the WSJ - it is fun and gets more challenging as you progress: https://www.crazygames.com/game/traveler-iq-challengeYou can save your scores, play against others, etc. My first score was 273,825, level 8, IQ 101

Not sure I want to even try this game since I'm up against two formidable needle-sharp opponents

You rock Anne! The screen does need to be bigger as it is hard to "pinpoint" locations, but you get a lot of points for being vaguely close. I think using an atlas would be cheating, plus there is a time limit so you'd have to be quick!
Suzie - I think the top scores will come from Anne & Marc (if he plays).

384,974 level 10 IQ 113. A bigger screen really would help. Some of the countries are barely visible. My Africa knowledge is pretty weak.

Golly,
I guess I did pretty well on my first try: 453,547 level 11 IQ 120.
I was right on for a couple of cities, except that in my haste I put them on the correct coast, but wrong continent. Whoops! I threw all the "Stans" in the same area.
By sheer luck I missed the Hermitage in St. Petersburg by 1km. That must have helped.
Fun game. Going back for another round!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends ~~M. Angelou~~

Suzie - give it a go! It's quite a fun game. Great score, Suzanne. It's easier the second time around.
cheers, Anne

I scored 430,169 at level 11 with an IQ of 118! I'm surprised I did this well.

Has anyone noticed that it is all the "smart people" in our lct class who are posting scores? Wonder why we haven't heard from Marc?
My excuse is a small screen. I got close a couple of times, but then on some they asked me something about being on earth?

I have a big screen, and they still asked me if I realized I this was on earth. I'm lousy at most of it, but it's fun.

I have to try it on my computer with a decent screen. I know I am lousy in Asia, but when I couldn't see Great Britain on my screen....well, that is too small. Lynn

I am doing this on my little laptop so it is just pure luck. Made it to level 12. Score is 536,877. IQ 129. I had 7:20 left on clock so maybe I should have taken it slower.

Marc - congratulations! I only got to level 12 once with further play. Usually level 11 does me in.
The detailed score means 90% is accuracy and up to 10% is a bonus for time. So .. if you KNOW NOTHING, click anywhere. You'll get around 300 points. Of course, at levels 10 +, you've got to get pretty close on most of the clues to continue.
I love the little commentary "Your IQ is off the Charts! (ie, Suzanne getting to within 1 km of the Hermitage) and "This is Earth we are talking about, you know" (ie, placing a South Pacific island capital in Africa).
At least several of the clues repeat themselves. It only took me 5 tries to remember Montenegro is in south eastern Europe and not in Africa.
Leslie - thanks again for posting! I will challenge the grandchildren on this one. They love country flags & geography. Undoubtedly, they will kick all of our butts.
Cheers, Anne
