He made a tiny bit of positive progress yesterday, but the pneumonia is still very much there. At least his fever is within a fairly normal range without the cooling blanket, and he seems to be maintaining a blood pressure on his own.

Good news Pam. Day by day, little by little, pneumonia is pretty major and it takes time to recover, but every little step is good.

Interesting thing that the anestheologist told me when I was having my kidney surgery a couple of years ago, he said "everytime a tube comes out, you are one day closer to home". Thought that was an interesting perspective, and in Rich's case, maybe a modified version, everytime something is normal, or improves, he is closer to home.

Hugs and prayers Pam - we are with you. Thanks for keeping us updated when you can.

Mark and Jason are coming to get us today; Sonja has to get home to her family and I need to bring my own vehicle back here. There is one rental agency in town, and I am paying $50/day for a car about the size of a sand flea. It's a good little car, but I need my own. I'll do some laundry tomorrow and come back on Monday.

Rich is still critical, but at least the fever is staying down and the lung doctor said that whatever his lungs are doing is a good thing. He is from Jordon, and is just the nicest person; we can chase him down when we have a question and he will take the time to explain until we understand.

Pam - so glad you can get back to Rich on Monday. The family support is vital when fighting off a major illness.

Glad the fever and blood pressure are moving in the right direction. He's putting up one heck of a fight.

We are thinking of you and sending all of you a big hug.

Arlene, it's absolutely terrifying. Rich is 6'3" and is built like a redwood tree. To see him flat and know that a machine is breathing for him is horrible. When we are in the room with him, we have a hand or two on him all the time. The nurses who monitor "numbers" have told us that they can see him relax when he hears/feels us there with him. I hated to leave him, but he is in good hands and I'll get back there soon. We were talking to a nurse this morning, and I was on his left side instead of his right. He turned his head toward me.

We made it home with no problem, I already have one load of laundry done and we did a grocery run.

My thanks to all of you who are here with me through this ordeal.

Friends are here for friends, Pam! So good to see that you've arrived home safely. I know you left with mixed emotions, but Rich will soon have you back beside him.

Try to get some much-needed rest for yourself. May each day find Rich stronger and approaching full and complete recovery!

Hi Pam
Glad you were able to get home, if only for a day. I know your heart is still in Mountain Home, but you'll be back soon. As the others said - Get some rest tomorrow. Thinking of you and your family at all times.

I'm back in Arkansas. He is still so very sick, but I just hold his hand and babble and hope that one day he'll squeeze my hand.

Thank you for your words of encouragement! They mean a lot.
