Jim - We were in Colorado Springs 1979 - 1988, much of the same time you were there! Although I didn't shop at K-G Men's store much, I considered the Citadel my second home ;) . When you are weather wimpy Californian's, Colorado seemed cold. But Montana - - that must be brrrrrr cold! Thanks for your welcome!!!!

Sue & Tom - Welcome fellow newbies. Glad to hear you'll be on the PG 5/28/05 PIP. We'll just miss you (darn) as we'll be on the 5/21. Hopefully we'll meet on another great cruise someday.

Kristen & Greg - Welcome to you too!!! I'd love to try Silversea someday. It's good to hear your input.

Hello, everyone,

Don't think I've introduced myself yet. My husband and I are transplants from Chicago to
Arizona. We took our first cruise to the Caribbean
on Celebrity many years ago. Went on Radisson Navigator to Alaska in 2002, and fell in love with the ship and
the cruiseline. Just got back from our second
Radisson cruise - P.G. - last month. We look forward to more cruising in the future - perhaps
trying Silversea, but next trip will be Italy by land for my 50th. Thanks to all for the great information I've gleaned off this - and the cruisecritic - websites. Uma

Welcome, Uma. I live in Arizona too - Tucson to be exact. And, I'm a transplant by way of Atlanta, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Columbus, Knoxville and Roanoke. The PG is on my wish list but it may be gone before I can do anything about it. Be sure to report back about your Italian trip too.

A warm welcome to our new friends!

Nice to see you on the boards, Uma! I believe we "chatted" a few times on CC (I had the screen name nyfeds). In fact, I read your hotel review on CC this morning. Sorry you had such a terrible experience at Le Meridian. I do hope the rest of your trip, however, was wonderful and just as you hoped it would be!

Uma - Here's another warm welcome!!!

I also read your review on CC. I feel so bad for you. What a bad way to end a wonderful vacation. Surely Radisson will rethink using this resort. Let's hope so. Our very first cruise was also on the Navigator. We love that ship, too. Next we'll be on PG 5/21/05. I'm sure I'll be picking your brain as time draws closer.

Thanks, Donna, Denise and Cyndi,

We did chat, Denise, before the Alaska cruises. Will let you all know what kind of response we get from Radisson regarding Le Meridien.

Uma, I also saw your note on CC, Le Meridien sounds horrible! Not that it will make you feel any better, but for our last day after a post-cruise on the PG in Moorea we were back at the Intercontinental Beachcomber in Tahiti and had a surprisingly nice room - much nicer than I had expected for that kind of thing. Not quite as nice as our pre-cruise OWB there, but very nice indeed, and the staff were great.

In any case, good luck with a response, and welcome!

Cheers,
Ken

Thanks, all, for the warm welcome. ChatKat,
Won't be taking a cruise there. Will do all by land. Probably Venice, Florence and Rome, with a day trip to Siena. Will take trains between the cities. Have already planned this trip twice in the past but we were unable to go for various reasons. I always do lots of internet research and read all the guidebooks. Will use travel agent for the hotels and maybe for flights, and do the trains and private tours myself.

Ah, we are doing the Classic Italy Tauck Tour in November so I will be at the Vatican on my actual 50th. We did a Tauck tour in New England and it was wonderful. Great hotels, good food, and no worries. Plenty of free time too.

Uma, not sure whether you are hell bent (like I am sometimes) to be an independent traveler on this trip, but I was doing those same cities several years ago, and chose to do Perillo's Deluxe Italy by Rail after I had looked into the same thing on our own. It wasn't really a group thing, other than getting us from place to place on first class trains and booking our hotels for us, and giving us some of the best guides I have ever had on any trip I've ever done. For instance, in Venice, we stayed at the Hotel Danielli, a wonderful property. In the other cities, I can't remember the hotels, except to say they were really nice. We also had a side trip to Siena. What I liked was not having to do all the reservations separately, and we did our own thing for dinner every night. Breakfast each morning at our hotels was included. Worth a look into it.

ChatKat and jhp,

I had planned on doing Italy on our own, since my idea of "group tours" has always been that your time is pretty structured. If this isn't necessarily the case, wouldn't be a bad idea to compare the prices and itineraries on Tauck and Perillo to whatever I come up with doing some things on my own and using travel agent for hotels, flights. I will definitely check them both out.

After travel on RSSC, my TA said no Perillo for us. He's had some bad experiences for some clients on Perillo. The food choices are very limited We've done Tauck and he felt that we'd be pleased since you order off menu and the hotels are all deluxe. Perillo, unless you do the deluxe is only first class - a step down from Tauck

Kimk - I just read your other post. Don't feel bad - when I posted my intro on this long, long post, I was afraid I was supposed to have done it as a new topic instead. I think this proves that it doesn't matter where you post your intro . . . just as long as you do!!!! :D :D :D

It was great to read all about you and look forward to hearing more about your upcoming, exciting PG cruise in March!!!

Welcome!!!!

Hi I thought it about time I introduce myself. I just celebrated my 50th birthday while a certain good friend was away on the MINT cruise partying in honor of my birthday. ;) cheer

I'm the mother of two children, a teenage boy and an almost teenage girl, both of who give me joy daily.

From the time I graduated college in 1976 till 1985 I worked as a textile and wallpaper designer. In 1985, I opened my own wallpaper manufacturing company and put out three wallpaper collections.

A year after my son was born, I realized something would have to give, so sold the business to a colleague and worked for him part time and on a freelance basis till 1997.

At that time I decided it was time to "do my own thing" and started drawing, painting and doing other types of art. I've since settled into working in colored pencil and teaching workshops locally and around the country. My avatar is a cropped version of one of my paintings.

As for cruising? I went on one cruise back in 1982 on the Oceanic (anyone remember that ship) and LOVED it. But a year later I married a man who not only wasn't into dancing (something I love to do) but also had no desire to cruise. sigh. :mecry:

But now things are changing for the better, so hopefully I'll be joining you sometime late next year, or in 2006 for sure. wave

lol on the finally. the site has been down all day. I moderate on an art site and get a good price to have them host my site, but the downside is every once in a while the site goes down. (that's why gil's and my avatar's aren't showing or the photo of myself) Hopefully tomorrow it will be back up.
