Re TUT, we are due to arrive one-day early and as info., a friend who lives in Athens recommended the following hotel at 112 Euros per nite and we have subsequently made a reservation. Apparently hotel is within a 15 minute walk from where most of you are staying and is very convenient to various sites. No senior rates and high speed internet is $12 per day. http://www.amazonhotel.gr/location.php Cheers! Ray & Penny

This looks like a winner, Ray! Anything around Syntagma Square is the perfect location, convenient to the Plaka and Acropolis. 112 Euros is a GREAT deal. I am going to have Greg look at this just in case he wants to switch from the Grande Bretagne.

Ray, we stayed here last September before our cruise on the Naviagtor: www.magnagreciahotel.com/hotel.php It appears to be in the same neighborhood as your hotel. Small 4 star boutique hotel, has won some awards. Good sized rooms, nice bathroom and a great breakfast with full Acropolis view. Easy walk to everything. I think I booked with Expedia and beat the hotel website rate by about 8-10%. We booked a non-view room but were upgraded to Acropolis view.

Thanks Suzanne
Looks very interesting and we're going to check with some friends who may have an interest as well.

Suzanne:
Thanks for the info on the Magnagrecia Hotel. I passed info on to our friends and they jumped on it. Penny and I decided to stay with the Amazon Hotel primarily because we would have knowledge of two hotels rather than one plus we save about $25.
Magna is a 4 Star (130 euros), Amazon a 3 star (112 euros) and both posted rates include taxes and buffet breakfast. Pretty good deal, I'd say.
Cheers! Ray

Suzanne, the Magna Grecia looks great as well! Very tempting to book at these great rates - but the GB is our "tried and true", having stayed there 3 times, we're in our comfort zone. Oh, what to do?
